Rangers expert taken aback by Ianis Hagi transfer twist

Rangers valuation for Ianis Hagi is seen as an “awful lot” this summer as Fiorentina makes contact.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton made it clear that the Scottish giants will need to find a “middle ground” if they wish to sell the striker in this window.

Football Insider revealed that Rangers are willing to sell Hagi this summer, and will charge a seven-figure fee.

Reports have stated that the 25-year-old has agreed wages with Fiorentina, but there is a stumbling block over the transfer fee.

The Gers value Hagi at £2.95million, a fee that the Serie A side might not be able to match.

The striker has made 99 appearances for Rangers but spent last season on loan at Deportivo Alaves after falling out of favour at Ibrox.

Rangers will need to change their valuation of Ianis Hagi

It has been made clear that if the Gers want to buy players this summer, they will must make some sales to raise the funds.

That has led to Philippe Clement claiming everyone is available for the right price, but Rangers might need to lower their expectations.

“I think it’s an awful lot,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“If we’re talking about £2.9million for a player who went out on loan and it didn’t quite work, it’s not really worked out for him at Rangers.

“The potential is there; I think he’s a quality player he just didn’t quite suit the Scottish league, if I’m totally honest.

“But we’ve seen flashes, and he’s more than capable; he showed that in the Euros as well.

“I understand why Rangers are, and they want to get as much as possible but I think they will find middle ground eventually because we know that his future is not at the club and they need the money to then reinvest.

“I’m pretty sure in the next couple of weeks they’ll come to some sort of agreement.”

In other news, Rangers will accept £10million offer for star duo.
