Swansea have now entered the race to sign Rangers target Tyrese Campbell, who is a free agent this summer, according to Darren Witcoop.

The English journalist reported on 2 August that a number of clubs have held talks with the 24-year-old striker, with West Brom, Cardiff and Sheffield United previously sounding out the striker.

The former Stoke City forward is understood to be in talks with a host of Championship clubs over a transfer this summer.

Via X, Witcoop wrote: “Tyrese Campbell continuing to hold talks with a number of Championship clubs. Swansea the latest to show an interest with West Brom, Cardiff and Sheffield United having previously sounded the forward out. Interest from Glasgow Rangers also in free agent.”

Tyrese Campbell would be a quality signing for Rangers

Campbell could be an important signing for Gers due to his proven goal-scoring ability and versatility.

The 24-year-old forward has a track record of finding the net consistently, which is a crucial asset for any team looking to challenge for titles.

His ability to play across the front line would also provide Rangers with tactical flexibility and depth.

Moreover, Campbell’s contract situation makes him an attractive target.

As his deal with Stoke City has expired this summer, Gers could potentially secure his services for just the cost of signing on bonus.

Additionally, Campbell’s age and experience in the English Championship suggest he is ready to make the step up to a club with European ambitions.

His signing could not only bolster Rangers’ attacking options but also signal their intent to compete at the highest levels, both domestically and continental.

In other Rangers news, the club’s board may now push to sign a striker that Philippe Clement does not admire.
