Rangers secured the signing of Robin Propper for a £1.5million fee due to a loophole ahead of the 31 July deadline, according to Four Lads Had a Dream.

With just two days to run, Gers are believed to have paid the amount FC Twente were looking in order to sell the 30-year-old centre-back.

Arnold Bruggink, the chief of the Dutch side expressed his disappointment at losing a player of Propper’s calibre at the last time.

Four Lads wrote on X: “Rangers paid just £1.5m for Robin Pröpper thanks to a transfer loophole that had just 2 days to run

Twente Enschede chief Arnold Bruggink said: ‘Last year we stopped Robin from going to a top foreign club. After that, we started talking about the possible what-if situations that could arise the next time a club came in for him.

‘Then we sat down together and made a new agreement.

‘The agreement was if a club came in for him before midnight on July 31 and paid the agreed amount, then he could go.

‘It still feels strange to me. Suddenly an important player – who was at the heart of the team – is gone. And our captain too’.”

Rangers make shrewd moves to sign Robin Propper

The club’s acquisition of Propper for £1.5million was a shrewd piece of business, taking advantage of a transfer loophole just two days before the deadline.

This deal allowed Gers to secure the services of the 30-year-old centre-back, who was also the captain of FC Twente, at a bargain price.

Gers’ timing was impeccable, and they managed to secure Propper’s signature just before the deadline, highlighting their savvy business acumen in the transfer market.

The Dutchman could replace Connor Goldson well at Ibrox due to his experience, leadership and defensive skills.

Propper is a tall, physical defender with good passing and ball-playing abilities, similar to Goldson.

He can play on either side of the central defence and is known for his long diagonal passes, which could be a valuable asset in Rangers’ system.

In other Rangers news, the club’s board may now push to sign a striker that Philippe Clement does not admire.
