Rangers player shares fan verdict as Ibrox saga continues

Ross McCausland has backed Rangers fans to continue being the driving force behind the team no matter where they play their football.

The Bears are unable to play their home games at Ibrox in August, with Hampden Park looking the most likely option [Daily Mail].

McCausland has claimed that Gers fans never let the club down and that will continue, despite the recent developments in the Ibrox debacle.

“Of course, that is something that is out of our hands,” McCausland said via the Daily Record.

“But I can 100 per cent back that the Rangers fans will be wherever we are going to play our games. They never let us down. Ever. I am 100 per cent certain they are going to be wherever we are.

“I don’t think that will affect us. It is something that is out of our hands and it is something that as players, there is nothing we can do about it.”

Why Rangers won’t be playing the start of their season at Ibrox

All Rangers fans will know the difficulties that the club have faced since the Copland Road stand has been under construction.

Although the planned work was initially scheduled to be finished before the start of the 2024/25 term, this wasn’t meant to be.

Thanks to shipping delays, their initial absence from Ibrox was expected to take around a month for the final pieces to be put together.

But it was reported on 7 July that the works could now go on until October at the very earliest [Daily Record].

John Bennett was so infuriated by the whole situation that the project manager was actually fired from his role [Scottish Sun, 20 June].

Although Gers fans will no doubt show up wherever their team play, no atmosphere could ever match that of Ibrox.

Here’s hoping that the Ibrox debacle is resolved sooner rather than later so that Philippe Clement and his men can return to their home ground.
