'I'm hearing...' - Pundit shares new update that 'Shocking' Rangers issue may be even worse

Derek Ferguson fears Rangers will be missing even more home games at Ibrox when the new season starts thanks to building work delays.

The Light Blues dropped a bombshell into the middle of Philippe Clement’s summer rebuild with the 20 June announcement that issues with a shipment of materials will effect a series of home games to open the campaign.

Ferguson is outraged by the “ridiculous scenario” that will see the Light Blues forced to play away from Ibrox, and believes it could actually be worse than already feared.

The ex-Gers midfielder has heard that it could be over six home games that are effected amid concerns that the pitch could be negatively effected by the work even after the construction on the Copland Stand is done.

He exclusively told Ibrox News: “Somewhere behind the scenes, people that are in charge of certain things, organisational things, are just not doing their jobs.

“Where’s this piece of metal coming from? Asia? There’s Govan just down the road, ship building and that, it’s two minutes away, could be not get something from there?

It’s a ridiculous scenario. People are saying six games, I’m hearing it could actually be more by the time they actually get in there. Because I’m sure the building work, they’re going to have to be on the pitch, so is the pitch going to be effected as well?

“It’s shocking.”

Philippe Clement will begin Rangers campaign away from Ibrox

Should a new-look Light Blues side make a strong start to the season it is possible that the building work will prove to be an overblown concern, but it will still likely be an unwanted financial blow either way when match day revenue and costs for playing elsewhere are taken into account.

But disruption to the early schedule is not conducive to Philippe Clement getting his team going from the off, just as fixture issues around the trip to Dundee last term didn’t seem to have a positive effect, and it will be hard to look past the problem if performances and results aren’t great.

Rangers
Philippe Clement will have to start the season with Rangers decamped from Ibrox.

Six games away from Ibrox and the famed support of the 50,000 fans in the stands would already be more than enough, so if that number increases while the inability to play at home drags on it will be a huge frustration.

That the building work hasn’t gone to plan at all is a major blow, but having done so it would perhaps not be the greatest shock for further delays to materialise.

In other Rangers news, a club’s hero has been left surprised that the Light Blues have swooped in to sign a “superb” player from them.
