Rangers signing yet to join squad in Netherlands, could feature v Manchester United - journo

Hamza Igamane is not currently with the Rangers squad in the Netherlands but may make his debut against Manchester United, according to Derek Clark.

The journalist reported via the Rangers Review YouTube channel (11 July, 13:30) that the Moroccan forward is yet to join up with Philippe Clement’s side following his summer move to Ibrox from FAR Rabat.

Rangers drew their first pre-season fixture against Standard Liege in the Netherlands on Wednesday (10 July) and Igamane is expected to be available for selection for the clash with the Red Devils on Saturday 20 July.

Speaking on Rangers Review Morning Briefing, Clark said: “He’s not out in the Netherlands at this moment in time, I believe he will be available for the Manchester United friendly.

“I think we may get an idea of whether he will feature in that game, but he’s not out with the team at this moment in time.”

Is Hamza Igamane in pre-season training with Rangers after summer transfer?

Igamane had been expected to join up with his new teammates quickly after his summer move to Ibrox was confirmed, with reports indicating he would be in first-team training only days after the switch was announced [Daily Record, 7 July].

For whatever reason that no longer appears to be the case and it doesn’t appear to be clear whether or not the striker will play any part at all in the Light Blues’ pre-season camp in the Netherlands in the next few days.

If he were to be making the trip to Holland, he would almost certainly be available for the friendly against Ajax on Saturday (13 July), but Clark seems to be confident that he won’t make his Light Blues debut against the Dutch giants.

Hopefully, Igamane will join up with the rest of the squad sooner rather than later because the Gers will want him to hit the ground running when Premiership football gets back underway in August.

With Cyriel Dessers’ future the subject of speculation, Clement cannot afford to be relying on the Nigerian to start that curtain-raiser against Hearts.
