Rangers have made a new offer to Sevilla with improved terms on a potential loan for Joan Jordan, Fernando Serrano reports.

According to the Bombonera Insider founder via X on 24 July the Light Blues have increased the percentage of the Spanish midfielder’s wages they are willing to pay.

Philippe Clement is looking to add an experienced central midfielder after signing former Aberdeen youngster Connor Barron after losing Ryan Jack and John Lundstram this summer.

The Belgian is already on the brink of landing another loanee in Czech international winger Vaclav Cerny from Wolfsburg, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg earlier on 24 July.

The Gers were reportedly only offering to cover around 20 per-cent of the 30-year-old’s salary and had been rejected previously, as had Alaves with a similar offer [Estadio Deportivo, 16 July].

Sevilla apparently have no plans for the him in the new season so if Clement is ready to give him significant game time in the Scottish Premiership it might be a valuable opportunity.

But he has a contract for another three years in La Liga and according to Mundo Deportivo on 18 July he has his heart set on fighting for his place despite making just 13 appearances in all competitions last season.

Getafe and Espanyol are also interested Jordan so Rangers may be fighting an uphill battle but it doesn’t look like Clement and Nils Koppen are ready to give up yet.

Rangers have made another attempt to sign Joan Jordan on loan.

The two Belgians may have been boosted by the fact that it looks like a number of players are now set to leave Ibrox to clear space for incoming deals.

Connor Goldson has now surpassed James Tavernier in seeming closest to a move as he left the preseason friendly squad for the Birmingham game to finalise a move to Aris Limassol [Scottish Sun, 24 July].

The pair would clear around £75,000-a-week on the wage bill if they move on [David Edgar, 23 July], while the likes of Sam Lammers [Andrea Losapio, 24 July] and Ianis Hagi [SportspeSure, 21 July] are now reported to be closing to exits.

In other Rangers news, senior Ibrox figures have raised an “issue” with signing Lawrence Shankland.
