Sam Lammers’ Rangers exit to FC Twente is set to financially benefit two more Eredivisie clubs, reports Rik Elfrink.

The Eindhovens Dagblad journalist noted via X on 26 July that the confirmed deal to take the Gers forward back to the Eredivisie permanently will see PSV Eindhoven receive €100,000 [approximately £84,000] out of the sale price.

Willem II are also entitled to €10,000 [approximately £8,500] which Elfrink equates to 0.5 per-cent of a €2m [£1.69m] up-front fee, as part of solidarity payment rules intended to compensate clubs who train players between the ages of 12 and 23 [UEFA].

Tutto Mercato Web’s Andrea Losapio previously reported on 24 July that the deal could be worth as much as €5m [£4.2m], but Sky Sports have since reported on 26 July that add-ons would take the deal to just under £4m in total.

PSV and Willem II due a share of Rangers transfer compensation after FC Twente exit

Based on the difference between Lammers’ dismal form in Glasgow and his stunning revival on loan with FC Utrecht the Light Blues will certainly hope to see the add-ons push the price high enough to make a profit now that he has returned to the Netherlands.

His £3.5m signing from Atalanta last summer [Scottish Sun, 18 July] proved to be a major error by Michael Beale as the Dutchman only managed two goals for Rangers and never looked comfortable.

Even at the lower end fee the fact a permanent exit has been secured at all compensation is a positive step from where the situation was prior to his loan in January.

FC Utrecht wanted him back after 11 goals in 20 appearances but his Ibrox contract priced them out of a deal [AD Voetbal podcast, 15 July] and then did the same for NEC Nijmegen [Scottish Sun, 26 July] as Philippe Clement looked like having a senior player languishing in the B Team long-term.

Rangers will see solidarity payments from Sam Lammers’ sale go to his first two clubs.

The sale proceeds and the space on the wage bill will be far more valuable in Glasgow at this stage than Lammers would have been after the manager left him out of the first-team.

So even if the solidarity payments reduce the take slightly there will surely be relief all round that the forward has got a new start and both sides can move on from a signing that proved a mistake.

In other Rangers news, FFP issues have emerged as multiple clubs look to sign another Gers attacker.
