Besiktas have decided against the signing of Ridvan Yilmaz this summer due to Rangers’ price tag, according to Ajansspor.

The Turkish source reported [24 June] that the Gers asking price of £4.2million (€5million) is too much for the Super Lig side, seeing the talks between the two parties end negatively.

It is understood that Besiktas are already looking at alternative full-back signings to replace the exit-bound Arthur Masuaku, with AS Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola, Sevilla’s Marcos Acuna and Real Betis’ Juan Miranda all being listed.

While Yilmaz has been heavily linked with an Ibrox exit this summer, the 23-year-old is said not to favour a return to Turkey despite the interest from former club Besiktas [Sabah].

Could Ridvan Yilmaz remain at Rangers this summer?

Despite making just 15 Scottish Premiership starts last season, Yilmaz looks to have become a favourite under Philippe Clement since the Belgian’s arrival in October.

The left-back’s lack of game time comes down to his injury woes throughout the 2023/24 season, rather than being dropped to the bench regularly, but Yilmaz now faces new competition.

The new signing of Jefte from Fluminense will provide plenty of competition in the full-back positions, so it will be interesting to see whether or not the current left-back is ready to fight for his place in the starting XI.

Yilmaz only joined the club from Besiktas in the summer of 2022, amassing 48 appearances for the Scottish club, and it appears he is keen to stay at Ibrox ahead of next season.

Clement is beginning to rebuild the squad, which will be an exciting time for any player, at least the ones who will be utilised by the manager next season rather than sold in the summer transfer market.

It is unclear what the manager wants to do with the 23-year-old left-back, especially considering his problems with injury recently, but there is no doubt over the player’s ability.

Having signed for £3.4million with add-ons rising to £5million two summers ago, as per Sky Sports, Rangers will want to recoup their fee if he is to leave with three years still on his contract, but it seems Besiktas are not willing to pay that much.

In other Rangers news, James Bisgrove could not wait to quit Ibrox after the explosion of a new saga.
