Chris Jack shares Robby McCrorie exit update as summer Premiership transfer mooted

It remains to be seen whether Scottish Premiership clubs will be willing to match Rangers’ asking price for Robby McCrorie, according to Chris Jack.

The goalkeeper has rejected a new contract at Ibrox and appears set to depart Glasgow this summer in search of regular first-team football, having failed to displace Jack Butland between the posts.

Rangers are believed to value McCrorie at £500,000 [Daily Record, 14 June] and while Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack believes that is a fair price, he isn’t convinced teams will be willing to foot the bill this summer.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (28 June) he said: “I think he’s definitely worth it. I know there is a bit of interest in the Premiership, whether Premiership clubs can get to that fee remains to be seen.

“But I’m sure there will be more interest in him down south as well. He will have to move on.”

Will Robby McCrorie leave Rangers and Ibrox in summer transfer window under Philippe Clement?

As Jack suggests, the Gers’ asking price for McCrorie may seem high for a player who has played barely any football over the last few seasons, but he has plenty of experience and has shown in his limited minutes that he is an excellent keeper.

If he were to move to the majority of Premiership clubs he would immediately become their number one and had the Light Blues not stumbled upon Butland, he would have likely featured much more regularly at Ibrox last year.

Teams in England may well be willing to stretch to that sort of fee if they are desperate for a new keeper and with McCrorie under contract, there is absolutely no need for the Gers to rush to try and get him off of the books.

Hopefully, a buyer either in or outside of Scotland can be found sooner rather than later to ensure that the Scotsman can get back to playing regular football, but there the Light Blues don’t need to drop their asking price this early in the window.
