Jack Butland sends message to Ryan Jack after new Rangers farewell

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has sent a farewell message to outgoing midfielder Ryan Jack after the 32-year-old reacted to his departure.

Jack posted a heartfelt goodbye to the Gers’ fans on Instagram after spending seven years representing the Glasgow-based outfit.

Butland wrote, “Good luck bro” to the Scotsman as his future is yet to be decided.

It goes without saying that Jack has been one of the Gers’ most consistent players over his seven-year stint with the club.

The 32-year-old played over 200 games for Rangers and managed to involve himself with 31 goals during that time.

However, as the former Aberdeen man enters his twilight years, it’s time to let someone else be the anchor of the squad.

Enter, Connor Barron. The midfielder was recently signed from Aberdeen and could easily slot right into Jack’s role for the 2024/25 season.

Despite many wanting Jack to stay, changes are needed at Rangers if they wish to triumph over their rivals, Celtic.

Phillipe Clement is yet to beat the Old Firm rivals, and, if he wishes to keep his job, there’s no doubt going to be a demand for them to win more silverware this term.

Hence why the likes of Theo Bair are being linked with Clement’s squad [The Atheltic, 24 June].

All in all, although Jack’s attachment to Rangers is sentimental, it’s likely the best option for both parties.
