Everton midfielder James Garner will miss the game against Southampton on 2 November at St Mary’s due to a back injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that there are different possibilities with regard to the severity of the setback, but his going to a specialist is unlikely to be a good sign.
The 23-year-old last played for the Toffees in the 0-0 draw against Newcastle at Goodison Park on 5 October.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Garner: “Best case scenario here is a tweak of some lumbar or lower back muscles whereas the worst case scenario is something structural within the back whether it’s the vertebrae or disc.
“The fact that he’s gone to a specialist is rarely a good sign but this is very much to be determined.
“He will miss the weekend game and it’s still unclear how long he’ll be out.“
James Garner has not featured prominently for Everton this season
Garner has barely featured for the Toffees this season after playing a prominent role in the 2023/24 campaign.
He played in all but one league game for Sean Dyche’s side, but has only made two starts this time around along with two appearances off the bench.
Hopefully, once he returns to full fitness, he can fight for a spot in the first team and play regular senior football.
In other Everton news, a £1billion update has emerged as the takeover saga takes yet another twist.
