The Esk has told Everton fans to look out for Eric Williamson as a potential new board member ahead of The Friedkin Group takeover.
The Americans are set to buy the club from Farhad Moshiri, with a December end date already mooted in the process [Alan Myers, 25 October].
Speaking on the Talking the Blues Podcast [13 November], The Esk has suggested that Williamson, who the Friedkins have with them on the Roma board, could be on his way to Merseyside too.
“I think it would be very interesting once the Friedkin deal does go through to see if this guy appears on the Everton board and just remember his name. The guy’s name is Eric Williamson. He’s basically the Friedkin’s fixer,” he said.
“So across all of their businesses, when they have a problem, they call for this guy and this guy comes in and he sorts it out. He’s the guy that’s been charged with sorting out the current problem at Roma.
“And he’s a change engineer for want of a better description. He is the guy that if we’re gonna make the massive wholesale changes that we need to make at Everton, I think he’s the guy that will come into the club.
“So when they do announce the takeover as completed, and they do say who’s gonna be on the new board, just look out for this guy because I think he is the guy that’s gonna make the big changes.”
Everton will hope for changes under The Friedkin Group
The Blues have been regressing over the last few years under the leadership of Moshiri, who has mismanaged funds at the club.
Everton have lost their reputation under the British-Iranian businessman and have been fighting relegation over the last few seasons.
Jordan Pickford has come clutch to save the team from the drop at times, as Sean Dyche has failed to take the Toffees to the next level.
The Blues are sixteenth right now after losing the first four games of the season in the Premier League.
That should’ve been enough for Everton to part ways with Dyche, but with the uncertainty at the club, the former Burnley head coach has been spared so far.
With the arrival of TFG, the Goodison faithful will hope that the Toffees are ushered into a new era, one filled with success, and with the move to Bramley-Moore Dock, it’s even more critical for the Americans to ensure that the club are stabilised going into the 2025/26 campaign.
In other Everton news, David Moyes could be set to return to the club once TFG completes their takeover.
