Report: £35m Arsenal player has now seen a specialist after not being seen in training this afternoon

Martin Odegaard has been one of Arsenal’s most reliable players in last three years when it comes to being available, yet things have been different this season.

The playmaker suffered an ankle injury on international duty earlier this month with Norway, with Odegaard set for a few weeks out on the sideline in what is a massive blow for Arsenal given their fixtures this September.

Odegaard has already missed the North London Derby with the 25-year-old set to be unavailable for Thursday’s UEFA Champions League opener against Atalanta and Sunday’s massive Premier League tie against Manchester City.

Yet the former Real Madrid man has now made a big step in his recovery.

Odegaard seen by specialist with Arsenal midfielder still out injured

According to the Evening Standard, Odegaard has this week seen a specialist to delve into the extent of how long the Norwegian international will be out for, with information on his this appointment went yet to be revealed.

Given the nature of Odegaard’s injury, there’s a good chance that the Arsenal captain won’t be back in action until after the October international break, with the Gunners set to make do without their main creative outlet.

Indeed, Odegaard’s injury has come at the worst possible time for Arsenal with so many big games coming up this month, though the north London side survived the first test against Tottenham with flying colours.

And with Darren Bent urging Arsenal to let Odegaard recover for as long as possible, the Gunners could follow through with this advice and do all they can to not rush the Scandinavian superstar back from injury, a decision that could backfire massively.

Arsenal will hope Odegaard’s recovery doesn’t take too long

Odegaard is one of Arsenal’s most important players and is crucial to how the Gunners operate under Mikel Arteta, with the midfielder one of the best in the world and a key figure for the north London side.

And having now seen a specialist about his injury, Arsenal will hope Odegaard is not out for too long, with the Norwegian international a player who is almost impossible to replace for the Premier League side.

With a busy schedule coming up, the sooner Odegaard is cleared to play the better for the Gunners, with the £35m Arsenal star likely to be itching to return to action in the coming weeks.
