Report: £50m star emerges as leading name talked about behind the scenes at Liverpool and Arsenal
Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool are all talking about potentially signing Bryan Mbeumo behind the scenes.
Newcastle United, Arsenal and Liverpool appear to all be taking a fancy to one particular player with talks already going on behind the scenes.
Arsenal spent just under £100 million in the summer transfer window, as Riccardo Calafiori, David Raya, and Mikel Merino signed permanent deals at the Emirates.
However, the latter signing hasn’t exactly gone to plan as Merino is already spending a number of weeks out on the sidelines after picking up a muscle injury in training.
Liverpool were quite the opposite as they ended up spending around £30 million on two signings in the form of Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa.
However, it could have been one more but Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Liverpool.
Interestingly, it now appears as if these two title challengers and Newcastle all have their eyes on the same player ahead of the January window…
Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle all talking about signing £50m star behind the scenes
You would have to say that Arsenal and Liverpool have the more pulling power with European football at the highest level secure, whereas Newcastle missed out on Europe.
However, the Magpies have shown that they have some pulling power of their own after securing the services of Sandro Tonali last season.
Now, Give Me Sport have claimed that Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle all have an eye on Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo’s record over the past two years in the English top flight has resulted in him becoming a leading name that is being talked about within recruitment teams – including Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal – as they continue searching for ways to improve their squads further down the line.
Which team needs Mbeumo the most?
Newcastle already have Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron out wide, but the latter’s future was uncertain in the final days of the summer so he may not play much of a part.
Liverpool have Cody Gakpo, Harvey Elliott, Mohamed Salah, Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz who can operate out wide.
However, Mohamed Salah’s future is very much up in the air at Liverpool, so perhaps Mbeumo is viewed as a potential replacement for the Egyptian.
Arsenal could do with the addition of Mbeumo the most as they only really have three options in wide areas.
Gabriel Martinelli has already come under some criticism, while Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are the only other options for Mikel Arteta.
