Report: After Amadou Onana, Unai Emery has now told £26m forward that he wants him at Aston Villa

After making significant progress in a deal to sign Amadou Onana, Unai Emery has now told another player that he wants him to join Aston Villa.

The Villans have agreed a £50m deal with Everton for the Belgium international – a move that has left Barcelona devastated as they were desperate to sign him.

Now, Unai Emery is already trying to bring another player to Aston Villa along with Amadou Onana

Unai Emery speaks to Viktor Tsygankov about Aston Villa move

A story from AS in Spain now states that Emery has held talks with Girona No.8 Viktor Tsygankov about a move to Villa Park.

The Spanish news outlet believe the Spaniard told the Ukraine international that he sees him becoming an important player for Aston Villa, with Manchester United also keen to sign the winger.

Tsygankov helped Girona to an impressive third place finish in La Liga last season by scoring eight goals – and also providing seven assists – in 30 appearances.

AS add that the 26-year-old is in no rush to make a decision on his future as he focuses on his holidays, which he was late to enjoy after partaking in UEFA Euro 2024 with Ukraine.

It is also said that Girona do not want to lose the man from Nahariya, although his €30m (£26m) release clause is seen as a problem within the Spanish side, as it is believed Premier League clubs can easily afford to trigger it.

Monchi could sign the new Gareth Bale

Despite his impressive 2023/24 campaign in Spain, Tsygankov is yet to become a household name in England, so Aston Villa fans may not know a lot about the man Emery has spoken to.

If that is the case, a comparison might help, and UEFA have actually compared the Aston Villa target to a couple of the fastest players in recent times.

In a profile about Tsygankov on UEFA’s official website, he is described as being similar to Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott, given his rapid pace and trickery on either flank.

In our view, the Ukrainian is more alike Bale, as he is a left-footed winger who tends to cut inside from the right flank to dangerous effect.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Aston Villa could trigger Tsygankov’s £26m release clause.
