Philippe Clement has an easy call to make at Rangers after Nedim Bajrami received a glowing review from international boss Sylvinho.
The Albanian was in sensational form as his side recorded a 2-1 win against Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday [7 September], and Clement must now simply select the summer signing for the first time this coming weekend against Dundee United.
As reported by the Daily Record [9 September], Sylvinho was thoroughly impressed with the new Rangers man, as his performance gives supporters a glimmer of hope in what has proved to be a really poor start to the season.
He said: “I thought the performance from Nedim Bajrami against Ukraine was outstanding. He is clearly a big talent. We were very satisfied with Bajrami’s performance, he can play in many roles for us.
“I have noticed that his all-round game has improved. He can do a lot with the ball. He helped us produce a really excellent result against a huge nation like Ukraine.”
Nedim Bajrami has to start for Rangers v Dundee United
Bajrami has arrived in Glasgow with a lot of expectation, and if his international outing is anything to go by, Rangers have secured a real gem for their side.
The 25-year-old signed from Sassuolo on deadline day [Gianluca Di Marzio] as a replacement for midfielder Todd Cantwell who ,completed the switch to Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers [The 4th Official] on the same day.
If Bajrami can better, or even match, some of the best performances of the departed Englishman – albeit rare over the past 12 months – while offering none of the controversy that surrounded his time at the Ibrox, then the Light Blues are onto a winner.
While Rangers underwent an overhaul of the squad this summer, the money spent on new signings comes nowhere close to the outlay of Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic, and the gap between themselves and their rivals was all too apparent in the 3-0 defeat at Parkhead.
Bajrami is a statement of intent for the Light Blues. He has a wealth of Serie A experience and will bring much-needed flair and creativity to the current attacking options at Clement’s disposal.
He has all the tools to become an immediate success in Scotland and there is doubt that he will soon become a regular starter on the teamsheet at Rangers – ideally starting this weekend.
