Report: Arsenal are still interested in signing £60m player, Mikel Arteta is a 'massive fan'

Arsenal’s search for a new striker this summer has taken them all around the houses.

It feels as though the Gunners have been linked with every striker in Europe at this point, but, as of yet, nothing has progressed.

In fact, things have gone quiet in terms of striker links for Arsenal, but according to The Independent, there’s still one quality centre-forward in the Premier League who Arsenal are keen on.

Arsenal interested in Alexander Isak

According to The Independent, Arsenal do maintain an interest in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Arsenal had been linked to Isak earlier this summer, and according to Team News and Ticks, Mikel Arteta is a massive fan of the striker.

“I really don’t expect it to happen, but it will come from that Arteta is a massive massive fan. He’s one that if Arteta sees that if he could get one player and we only had to sign one player it would be Isak. He loves him and he sees so many different roles and how he could evolve at us in so many different ways,” The insider said.

Arsenal are still keen on Isak, but it isn’t thought that Newcastle are open to selling the player at this moment in time.

Alexander Isak deal could be possible at some point

Alexander Isak to Arsenal may not be on the cards this summer, but perhaps one day it could be a deal that could happen.

Indeed, as this summer showed, Newcastle aren’t having the easiest of times when it comes to maintaining their finances in terms of Profit and Sustainability.

In fact, Newcastle were said to be 48 hours away from a 10 point deduction at one point according to Luke Edwards.

“I was really worried and people at the club were worried that they were heading for a 10 points penalty,” Edwards said.

“We were 48 hours away from that happening, but that last 48 hours they got out of that very well by selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh.”

If Newcastle find themselves in a similar position in the coming years, more player sales may have to happen, and if the door does open for Isak to move, don’t be shocked if Arsenal pounce.
