Report: Barcelona have made £45m Arsenal player a priority target for 2025
Wow...????
Arsenal’s recruitment has been first-class for most of Mikel Arteta’s reign.
William Saliba, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice are some of their exceptional additions over the last few years.
On the outgoing front, Arteta has been ruthless, too, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure in 2022 notable example.
That’s contributed to a winning culture around Colney and now the Arsenal boss could allow another key first-teamer to depart next summer.
Barcelona make Thomas Partey top target for 2025
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona have made Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey a top target for next summer’s transfer window.
It’s claimed Partey is unlikely to be offered a contract extension so his £200,000-a-week deal is due to expire in 2025, per TEAMtalk.
That’s put the Catalan giants on red alert after failing in an attempt to land his signature over the summer – with Arteta keen to retain his services at that time.
Barcelona are still limited on what they can do in the transfer market so Partey’s availability really appeals to the board.
They can open contract talks with the Ghanaian in January.

Arsenal should already be identifying Thomas Partey’s replacement
In the event Partey does leave next summer, Arsenal should already be drawing up a list of targets to replace him.
Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton would be an interesting player to look at, though, he is of a slightly different profile.
Samuele Ricci of Torino should be considered as he continues to attract widespread interest from across the Premier League.
Manchester City are interested in signing Ricci to potentially fill in for the injured Rodri.
