Report: Liverpool, Tottenham and Guardiola eyeing Lionel Messi-like talent with price tag of just £8.3m

Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all have high hopes for the season and beyond.

The Reds currently sit top of the Premier League table, with the Citizens in pursuit, while Spurs will be looking to break back into the top four.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, the likes of Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham will surely be looking at targets for the present and future.

Now, according to a report from Spain, all three clubs are said to be in pursuit of a 21-year-old Spanish winger who earned comparisons with Lionel Messi at La Masia.

Better still, said player could potentially be available for less than £8.5million, making him a bargain option for any Premier League club.

Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham following Real Valladolid’s Raul Moro

The player in question is Raul Moro, who has been making a name for himself at La Liga side Real Valladolid.

According to Super Deporte, Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham are all following the 21-year-old’s progress.

The plan would be to either integrate Moro into their squads or send him on loan to develop further as a potential future star.

Super Deporte believe he’d be available for €10million (£8.3million), a ‘high figure’ for Valladolid but ‘miniscule’ for the Premier League trio.

Who is Raul Moro?

Moro is a 21-year-old professional footballer who plies his trade for La Liga side Real Valladolid and can play on both wings and as a second striker.

His first step in football was at Gimnastic Manresa before linking up with Espanyol’s academy in 2017 and then moving to Barcelona’s La Masia a year later.

Moro then opted to join Lazio’s academy in 2019, where he broke into the first team, but while on their books, he was loaned out to Ternana, Real Oviedo and Valladolid.

The latter club opted to sign Moro permanently in 2024, and he has made 44 appearances overall for the Blanquivioletas, as well as breaking into the Spain Under-21 setup.

“He can make the difference,” his agent, Junior Minguella, is quoted by Goal.com as saying in 2020.

“That’s shown by the fact that at Barcelona they compared him to [Lionel] Messi.

“Of course, it’s an exaggeration, but it lets you understand the kind of player he is.”

The Goal.com article also compared him to former La Masia and Lazio gem. Keita Balde.

‘Like Keita, Moro is a direct winger who possesses electric speed and almost every trick in the book, and he is not afraid to show them off either,’ they wrote.

At a price tag of £8.3million, Moro certainly seems like an inexpensive gamble for an upper-tier Premier League club like Liverpool, Man City or Spurs.
