Report names who Everton want to sign to replace Branthwaite as terms agreed with Man Utd

Everton could turn their attention to signing Jacob Greaves from Hull City if they are to sell Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United, according to HITC.

The Times have reported (14 June) that the Toffees defender has agreed personal terms ahead of a move to the Red Devils this summer.

A fee in the region of £70 million would be demanded for the Englishman if Everton were to agree a deal during the transfer window.

Graeme Bailey has suggested that the Toffees would try and sign Greaves who is “one of several names understood to be on the club’s list”.

It appears that the Toffees are going to have a long list of potential options to replace Branthwaite if he is to move to Old Trafford.

The PSR and ownership situation at Goodison Park will certainly have an effect on who they sign but with up to £70m coming in, there should be funds available.

The Toffees defender had a stellar season alongside James Tarkowski and Jordan Pickford in a great defensive season under Sean Dyche.

Losing him could be detrimental but signing someone like Greaves could prove to be a masterstroke given the season he has had.

The 23-year-old has featured heavily for Hull over the last four seasons but this year he certainly shone as one of the best in the Championship.

As seen with players like Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise at Crystal Palace, there is great value to be had signing from the second tier.

It will be a blow to lose Branthwaite but signing someone with the quality of Greaves to replace him could prove to be a superb piece of business.
