Revealed: Door opens for Liverpool to sign Brazilian this week after expert's £25m reveal

Murillo could leave Nottingham Forest this week due to the financial pressures that the club are under, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest are under pressure to record a trading profit between £20million and £25million by this Sunday, which could force the club to sell a star player if they cannot plug the shortfall.

Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider on June 15 that Forest needed to raise £65million over the 2023-2024 season, and the profit from player sales must happen this month to avoid another points deduction.

It is understood that the club is at risk of breaching the profit and sustainability rules for a consecutive season, after they faced a four-point deduction last season that jeopardized their Premier League status.

While the Premier League club will look to achieve that goal with multiple sales of fringe players in the next few days, it does cast doubt over the futures of players such as Murillo or Morgan Gibbs-White, who would command a more significant fee.

Murillo, 21, is currently valued at a minimum of £40million, and he has interest from multiple clubs, including from the Premier League.

As revealed by Football Insider, Liverpool are among those who have been keeping tabs on the Brazilian’s situation.

Murillo has become a vital squad member at Nottingham Forest

The Brazilian joined Forest last summer from Corinthians and quickly became a regular for the Premier League side, featuring 36 times in all competitions.

With his contract not expiring until 2028, the 21-year-old will command a high fee, which could solve some of Forest’s financial problems.

However, considering Forest had the worst defensive record outside of the relegated Premier League clubs, the idea of letting a key defender leave the City Ground could be a difficult choice.

Despite the need to sell players, Forest are still looking to strengthen ahead of the new campaign with Carlos Miguel recently undergoing a medical ahead of his move.

Elsewhere, Football Insider revealed the club have opened talks with Aston Villa to sign Lamare Bogarde on a permanent contract.

In other news, Forest are targeting a Celtic player.
