Revealed: Man United open preliminary talks to sign two big names

Manchester United are currently talking to Jonathan David’s representatives over a potential signing, sources have told Football Insider.

However, the 24-year-old isn’t the only striker that the Red Devils have opened preliminary talks with, as Joshua Zirkzee’s camp has also been contacted in a deal that is currently advancing.

Manchester United are working on a marquee striker signing for this summer, and the club have multiple backup options in case a deal for Zirkzee falls through.

The club have made signing an A-list forward a priority this summer, but they face competition for Zirkzee as Football Insider confirmed last week that Arsenal have also joined the race to try and sign him.

United had began talks last week to sign the Bologna striker, with the Dutchman having a £33.8million release clause.

Both targets could bring goals to Manchester United

Manchester United lacked goals last season, as they were the joint lowest-scoring team in the top half of the Premier League with 58 goals in 38 games.

That’s why targeting a forward is such a priority for the Red Devils this season, and the 12 goals and seven assists that Zirkzee scored for Bologna has caught their eye.

David also had a strong campaign playing for Lille, where he found the back of the net 19 times in 34 Ligue 1 matches, proving that both Manchester United targets have an eye for goal.

While the club is looking to secure the signature of a new striker, one could also be on the way out as the Red Devils are looking to sell Mason Greenwood on a permanent deal.

The Englishman spent last season on loan at Getafe and has caught the eye of several Italian sides.

In other news, Manchester United are targeting an Everton player this summer.
