Revealed: Man City told 'big' January offer could land Serie A star

Atalanta will have to consider a big January offer for Man City target Ederson in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed last month (6 October) that City have been laying the groundwork for a deal to sign the 25-year-old.

The defending Premier League champions have identified Ederson as a potential target to replace Rodri, who is out for the season with a serious knee injury.

However, sources say January will be a tough time to do a deal for the Brazil international.

Clubs will be reluctant to lose their top players, but it is believed Atalanta will be forced to consider a big offer for their midfield star.

The Serie A side are playing Champions League football this term and Ederson is key to their success on the European stage.

He has made 17 appearances already this term, notching one goal and one assist.

The 25-year-old was also crucial for Atalanta last term as they won the Europa League – notching seven goals and one assist in 53 appearances across all competitions.

Liverpool have also held a historic interest in the midfield star, who is under contract in Bergamo until June 2027.

Man City have lost each of their last four games across all competitions but still sit second in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Liverpool.

Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan and Matheus Nunes are the current midfield options for Pep Guardiola.
