Tottenham will demand a “huge” offer to be brought to the table in negotiations for Cristian Romero, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (11 November) that Spurs will not entertain bids for Romero in January as Real Madrid plan to reignite their long-term interest.
However, even if there is no advance in the new year – Tottenham face losing their star defender in the coming windows with his contract only running until June 2027.
Sources say Spurs are desperate to keep hold of the centre-back despite interest from Real Madrid – who are missing Eder Militao and David Alaba with knee injuries.
World Cup winner Romero is yet to extend his deal since signing for Spurs in 2022.
Paris Saint-Germain have also historically been linked with a move for the centre-back, who will be 29 when his contract in north London ends.
Tottenham will demand ‘huge’ Romero fee
Romero has made 11 appearances across all competitions this term but has been rested often in the Europa League.
Micky van de Ven is currently out with a hamstring injury but is set to return to action after the international break, with Radu Dragusin stepping in during his absence.
Tottenham have history with selling to Real Madrid – with both Luka Modric and Gareth Bale joining Los Blancos for huge fees.
Spurs’ current record sale is the reported potential £100million deal which took Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in 2023.
In other news, Tottenham set sights on sensational Jack Grealish deal.
