Serie A Team of the week: De Gea’s penalty heroics earns him a spot alongside Ademola Lookman and Lukaku

Super Eagles forward, Ademola Olajade Lookman, was included in the Serie A team of the week alongside four of his Atalanta teammates, Soccernet.ng reports.

After claiming the man of the match award in his side’s 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in their midweek UEFA Champions League clash, he continued his brilliant form by chipping in an assist in his side’s 5-1 victory over Genoa last weekend, which in turn, saw him seal a spot in WhoScored’s Serie A team of the week.

In goal, former Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea, claims the number one spot after a super display in Fiorentina’s 2-1 victory over AC Milan. The 33-year-old made seven saves at Stadio Artemio Franchi in Firenze, denying Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham from twelve yards to seal three points for Raffaele Palladino’s side.

In defence, Inter’s Allesandro Bastoni claimed a spot after providing an assist in his side’s 3-2 win over Torino. The Italian also recorded a 95% pass accuracy in that game. He’s joined by two Atalanta defenders; Martin De Roon and Saed Kolasinac.

Christian Pulisic starts in midfield after scoring in Milan’s loss to Fiorentina. He’s joined by Udinese’s Jordan Zemura who scored a brilliant free kick against Lecce. Atalanta duo, Ederson and Ademola Lookman complete the midfield four.

Marcus Thurman’s hat trick against Torino makes him the first candidate in attack. He’s joined by Napoli’s Romelu Lukaku and Atalanta’s Mario Retegui.

In Osimhen’s absence, Lookman is expected to lead the frontline for the Super Eagles when they take on Libya during this month’s International break.
