Adrian Durham has blasted Everton live on air after the manner in which they conceded against Leicester City.

The Toffees have claimed their first point of the Premier League season but squandered a third straight lead at a sodden King Power Stadium to Stephy Mavididi in the second half.

Iliman Ndiaye gave Sean Dyche’s side a half-time advantage with an opener 12 minutes in.

Reporter Geoff Peters described the goal live on talkSPORT from the stadium [21 September, 16:39]: “It was a scramble in the box from Harry Winks’ corner, swung in from the far side to the six-yard area, and Mavididi swung a boot at it.

“They tried to clear it off the line did Everton, but Mavididi was there … Leicester have parity here.”

Durham responded from the studio: “It’s a shambles from an Everton point of view, but one apiece.”

Everton found wanting defensively as win escapes

Everton will be quietly relieved to get at least off the mark in the Premier League, but to lose their grip on yet another lead is hugely frustrating.

Dyche’s men remain joint-bottom of the Premier League table as Southampton matched the first point, despite conceding in the dying stages to Ipswich Town at St. Mary’s.

While Leicester dominated possession of the ball, the Toffees created more chances and shaded the territorial advantage, but were let down by a moment of sloppy defending to allow Mavididi to equalise.

Three of the next five league fixtures are now at Goodison Park, with no more Carabao Cup contests to divide focus, and the away matches within this block are at Ipswich and Southampton.

The consensus will be that at least a couple of wins are required, which will hopefully from an Everton perspective finally set the ball rolling a little faster – if not, Dyche’s future will be cast in serious doubt.
