'Shambolic' - Keith Jackson savages Rangers for how they've treated first-team player

Keith Jackson has slammed Rangers for how they treated Ianis Hagi in the first few months of the season.

The Romanian was frozen out by Philippe Clement and until December, he was not even handed a league start.

Clement then decided to name him in the playing eleven for the 1-0 win over St Johnstone on 1 December.

Jackson, a Daily Record journalist told Record Sport’s Hotline on 9 December at 6:40: “You know my thoughts on Hagi. The way that he’s been treated. Shambolic. It’s testament to his professionalism and his persona that he’s not thrown his toys out of the pram. He’s knuckled down and he’s proved that Clement was wrong. He’s the key man to the added variation and threat going forward.”

Ianis Hagi can still leave Rangers in January

The club undoubtedly treated Hagi very poorly all summer they tried forcing him out even though he seemed inclined to stay.

Even after it was clear that he was going to be there until January, Clement barely turned to the Romanian so that’s unacceptable.

Whenever the 26-year-old has been given the chance to express himself, he has shown that he’s capable of making a difference.

He has made three league starts this season, providing three assists and he’s also made three more appearances off the bench.

Hopefully, he will be given more game time in the coming weeks as he may force an exit in the January transfer window.

It will depend on whether he’s managed to convince Clement that he deserves to continue or that the club will be better off without him.
