'Significant' Everton transfer update drops as Branthwaite replacement eyed - report

Everton will have to make a “significant bid” to sign Jacob Greaves from Hull to replace Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Hull Live.

Writing on their website (16 June), the news outlet report that the defender is being targeted by the Toffees as a potential replacement for Branthwaite, who is expected to join Manchester United this summer.

But the Tigers are adamant they want to keep Greaves for another season as they aim for promotion, and will only sanction a move if the player “makes clear his desire to test himself in the Premier League” and “a significant bid was received”

Many people are expecting Branthwaite to be on the move this summer, but the Toffees are holding firm having rejected an opening offer from Manchester United already.

However, the club have got serious financial problems and it’s believed they must sell before June 30th, although the club have denied that is the case.

But should they receive a bid that is too good to refuse, then they will need to replace the 21-year-old and Greaves is someone who has been identified as a “tailor-made” replacement.

Hull will feel the same way about Greaves that Everton do about Branthwaite though and it won’t be an easy deal to do, especially with interest from other clubs such as West Ham in the mix too.

It’s one to keep an eye on certainly, but the Toffees can’t wait too long or they risk missing out on someone who is clearly a top target for this transfer window.
