Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is likely enjoying a little bit of downtime ahead of the start of pre-season but he’ll already have an eye on next term.

With the European Championships just over a week away, pre-season won’t be too far behind and the Spurs boss will be hoping to have one or two fresh faces in his squad as he looks to break into the top four.

One man who looks set to be back in contention in North London is Israeli winger Manor Solomon who has shared a new injury update via social media to hint that he is getting closer to a return to action.

According to Football London on Thursday (6 June) the forward shared a video on his Instagram story which showed him dribbling past a mannequin with a ball at his feet before striking into a small empty goal net.

Is Manor Solomon still a Tottenham player under Ange Postecoglou?

Solomon’s last start in the Premier League came all the way back in September as Postecoglou’s side ran out 2-1 winners over Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In his 80 minutes of action, the 24-year-old completed 83 per cent of his 29 attempted passes, two of which found a teammate in the final third as he caused a constant threat down the left side of the pitch, according to Fotmob.

While Spurs struggled to break down the Blades’ low block, Solomon managed to find plenty of space as he laid on four goalscoring chances for his teammates, producing an expected assits rate of 0.36.

Although his finishing was also erratic, the Israeli forward managed to find himself in plenty of space inside the penalty area. Unfortunately, he only managed to test Wes Foderingham with one of his four shots.

With the ball at his feet, the winger offers something completely different to the other winger’s in Spurs’ squad. Solomon is never afraid to take on his marker and against United he completed four dribbles, more than any other player on either side.

Defensively, the 24-year-old wasn’t afraid to get stuck in and press from the front as he entered an astonishing 13 ground duels and made five ball recoveries. That sort of work rate is crucial to flourishing under Postecoglou’s management.

While injuries derailed his campaign last season, Solomon’s time with Fulham showed that he can be a consistent source of goals in the Premier League, something the Lilywhites desperately need at this moment in time.

When compared to other wingers in the Premier League in the 2022/23 campaign, the Tottenham star sat in the top one per cent of his peers for non-penalty goals scored per 90 minutes, according to Fbref.

That record was in spite of the fact he placed in the bottom 37 per cent of wingers for shots taken per game and the bottom 52 per cent for non-penalty xG produced. He can be a clinical finisher when he is fully fit.

He will never be afraid to work hard from the front either. In that campaign at Craven Cottage, Solomon sat in the 99th percentile for tackles made per 90 minutes, with an average of 3.15 a game.

When does Spurs’ pre-season start under Ange Postecoglou?

Ange Postecoglou will look forward to having Manor Solomon available for Tottenham

Postecoglou is keen to add to his forward options this summer, which he has already started with the signing of Timo Werner, but if Solomon can start pre-season fully fit he could be like a new signing himself.

Seeing the 24-year-old back in training will have been a welcome boost to Postecoglou during the off-season.

In other Tottenham news, Chelsea are understood to be ready to sell Trevoh Chalobah to Spurs in the summer transfer window
