John Wenham annoyed by Tottenham stance on signing 'top-level player' from London rivals

John Wenham is “frustrated” that Tottenham do not appear interested in making a summer move for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the 28-year-old is a “top-level” player who would improve the club.

However, reliable Spurs insider Paul O Keefe revealed via X (27 May) that the North London side have been put off a potential move due to Palhinha’s age.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – cannot believe this reasoning.

“I am very frustrated,” Wenham said.

“Palhinha is a top-level player who would instantly improve our midfield.

“It is frustrating that age seems to be a factor even though we were happy to sign Ivan Perisic, who was much older.

“We’ve got young players and you need a mixture of youth and experience if you want to be successful.”

Tottenham should look to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham

This is a very strange reveal.

If Spurs have the opportunity to sign Palhinha, they should be all over it.

He is only 28 and still has at least a few more years at the highest level.

Palhinha is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.

While it is great to sign young players, it is just as important to have experienced heads in a team.

Palhinha would be the type of player who could take Tottenham to the next level.
