'Simply Ridiculous' - 4 Lads stunned by what exit-linked Rangers ace did this week

Alex Lowry stunned onlookers with a “simply ridiculous” strike for Rangers B against Clyde on Wednesday, according to 4 Lads Had A Dream.

Reacting to the long-range strike into the top corner via X the following day (15 August) the Gers outlet heaped praise on the homegrown attacker for the quality of the goal, before he rounded off a last-minute 3-2 victory with a late winner for his second.

Lowry cut in from the left flank before firing an unstoppable shot into the far top corner on 14 August to demonstrate his ability despite seemingly heading for a departure from the club.

4 Lads wrote: “I was right behind it, the movement on the ball was simply ridiculous. Starts so far out & bends in, was an incredible goal. As was his finish for our winner”.

Football Scotland reported on 6 August that Lowry has been told by Philippe Clement he won’t get many opportunities this term, and with the Light Blues already taking calls from interested clubs he is expected to move on for the good of his career.

Philippe Clement not convinced by Rangers attacker

The Light Blues are actually blessed with a host of options to fill the number 10 role which Clement seems so wedded to, not that it is obvious when in reality it amounts to Tom Lawrence or bust so far this term.

Lowry is at least the third option who could fill that space but is due to depart before the deadline if a deal can be secured, with his progress since breaking into the team under Giovanni van Bronckhorst very disappointing.

It is difficult to say how much of that is the 21-year-old’s fault and how much is a product of poor fortune and general disfunction at Ibrox.

A previous bad injury for the B Team, repeated managerial changes, and a loan at Hearts which was ended early last season have all disrupted his development, and Clement seems uninterested in giving him a chance to prove himself this term.

Alex Lowry scored a stunner against Clyde for Rangers B this week.

That is despite the fact that the Belgian is short of options and struggling to shift players out in order to make signings.

Todd Cantwell would be widely regarded as the most talented Gers number 10 when on form, but he has asked to leave and been left to train with the reserves.

Less understandably, Ianis Hagi has himself been frozen out of contention despite wanting to stay and also starring for the B Team [Sky Sports, 12 August].

It is believed that he has a clause in his contract which will trigger a wage rise if he plays for the first-team [Daily Record, 13 August], which the club seemingly want to avoid.

Neither a transfer request or a financial obligation are involved with Lowry so the complete lack of interest in his abilities is arguably the most confusing choice of all at the position.

But if suitable bids don’t come in for any of the exit-bound trio the manager might be forced to backtrack once the deadline is passed.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues are set to enter into transfer talks to sign a seven-figure new striker.
