Dan Bardell has been left surprised that Rangers’ operating losses aren’t higher than £17.2million and believes a change of ownership would help turn the tide at Ibrox.

The Gers have been in a period of change which appears to be edging closer to an end after the appointment of Nils Koppen and Patrick Stewart.

This duo have a mission on their hands to deal with an operating loss of £17.2million in the financial year that has just passed with operating costs remaining as high as £110million [Daily Record].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks a change of ownership could help these financial woes while remaining shocked that the issues aren’t worse.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “I’m surprised those losses aren’t higher.

I just think something needs to change at the club, it’s tough out there for all of them.

A change of ownership might help but to get everyone pulling in the same direction again would be a big thing for Rangers.

It just doesn’t feel like we are there with that happening at the moment.

Rangers new owners mooted after £17.2m development

The Light Blues have had a difficult start to the campaign which has seen pressure build week-by-week on Philippe Clement in the dugout.

His situation may be being aided by the uncertainty in the boardroom and financial issues surrounding the Ibrox club meaning his sack payout may be out of reach.

This issue may be negated in the coming weeks and months with Stewart coming in as he has a financial hole in the operating costs to deal with.

If the former Manchester United chief can resolve these issues, the supporters will get behind the team in the hope of the club moving in the right direction.

In other Rangers news, Tam McManus has mooted a Philippe Clement replacement amid a “massive” claim.
