Dan Bardell believes Rangers will be grateful for the international break after losing 3-0 against Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday.
It was a terrible day’s work for the Gers, not only suffering a damaging result but putting in a shocking performance in the Old Firm.
Philippe Clement’s side failed to truly land a glove on their biggest rivals, which was probably the most frustrating factor for supporters who gathered outside of Ibrox to vent their agent at the manager and his squad.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks the international break has come at the perfect time to regroup after the crushing defeat.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “It’s looking quite abject for Rangers right now. There isn’t much for their fans to get behind right now.
“Losing the Old Firm is a disaster anyway but to lose the way that they did shows the massive gulf between the two teams.
“It is a really disappointing time, they’ll be glad for the international break.
“There is a big gap between the two and I think questions will be asked of the hierarchy more so than there was already.“
Rangers glad for international break after Celtic showing
It was a day that none of the Gers supporters are going to be wanting to relive but it is becoming a regular occurrence against their bitter rivals.
Given that Brendan Rodgers’ side were able to sell Matt O’Riley for a large fee, they could reinvest into their squad and, if anything, get stronger.
By comparison, Clement sold Todd Cantwell for a minimal fee to Blackburn Rovers despite him being a first-team regular last campaign.
This all just leans itself into showing off the gap in quality between the Old Firm sides and the gulf only seems to be getting bigger rather than smaller.
