William Saliba is undoubtedly one of the best centre-backs in world football right now.
The French defender is a truly commanding figure at the heart of this Arsenal defence, and the Gunners’ defensive record can be largely accredited to his performances.
Saliba has received tons of praise for his showings as of late, and speaking to Amazon, Ben White has been full of praise for the defender.
White says that Saliba is an incredible player, so much so, that something strange has started to happen in Arsenal training.
Indeed, White says that other Arsenal players have stopped trying to dribble past Saliba at this point, stating that everyone just seems to know that he’s an unbeatable defensive force.
Arsenal players have stopped trying against William Saliba
White shared what has been happening with Saliba in training recently.
White claims that Saliba is incredible at London Colney and that he’s almost cruising whenever he trains.
However, the former Brighton man made it clear that nothing ever seems to get past Saliba and that players don’t even try to take him on.
Interestingly, Declan Rice recently named Gabriel Jesus as the best trainer at Arsenal, but even he seemingly doesn’t try to beat Saliba.
“They’ve been unbelievable. Not sure I’ve seen two better together. Saliba is absolutely incredible, there’s nothing I could say is a weakness or something he needs to work on. I know everyone needs to work on something, but the way he’s playing, he’s so young,” White said.
“It’s so weird because in training you see glimpses of how good he is, but in the game it’s a different level. He can cruise training, nothing goes past him anymore, nobody even tries, because there’s no point.”
What Mikel Arteta has said about William Saliba in training
Saliba is one of Arsenal’s best players in training, but he’s also one of the Gunners’ best characters at the training ground by the sounds of things.
Indeed, Mikel Arteta has previously commented on how great a character Saliba is behind-the-scenes.
“He’s really funny, and he doesn’t want to be funny, but he’s extremely funny,” Arteta said.
“He’s really liked around the place. He’s good, he has his aura and presence and always a really good humour and energy around him.
Of course, playing well is the most important thing at a club like Arsenal, but bringing the right level of energy to training sessions is also so important.
A happy team is a winning team, and this Arsenal side seem to have struck the perfect balance between ultra-competitiveness and general camaraderie within the squad.
Saliba is one of Arsenal’s most important players, and he’s also one of the Gunners’ most important characters.
