Sources close to Friedkin Group react to John Textor takeover talks at Everton - report

Sources close to The Friedkin Group have said they are yet to receive a proposal from John Textor surrounding the £200million debt they are owed from Everton, as per the Liverpool Echo.

The website reported [22 August] that the Friedkin Group’s loan, which was invested before their takeover collapse, must be repaid in full should the ownership at Goodison Park change.

The Crystal Palace co-owner is said to be locked in talks with Farhad Moshiri over his ambitions to own the Merseyside club, though it is understood that he must sell his shares at Selhurst Park first.

John Textor must speed up takeover process to purchase Everton

Evertonians will be desperate for some good news to come out of Goodison Park, but the fact that Textor has yet to either sell his shares at Selhurst Park or begin talks to repay the Toffees’ debt does not make for good reading.

The current financial situation is dire, to say the least. However, this can be hugely relieved once the building of Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium is completed, and that could be very soon.

Despite this, a third points deduction could already be on its way to Merseyside, as per Matt Hughes, after the Toffees were deducted a total of eight points due to PSR breaches last season.

Fans just want to know that their club is safe, and if that means getting Textor in to diminish the current debt and help steer them away from more financial troubles, then so be it.

Parties have already attempted and failed to purchase the Toffees from Moshiri, and despite The Friedkin Group being one of them, they are still involved due to the loan.

The sooner the debt is repaid to the Friedkin Group, the better. The Toffees need a new start under new ownership, and that cannot happen until all previous issues are resolved.
