Sources: Significant Kieran Tierney update tonight

Arsenal will look to cash in on Kieran Tierney on a permanent deal this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke explained that Mikel Arteta has decided the left-back’s long-term future no longer lies at the Emirates.

As a result, the club will look to move him on for good, rather than another loan deal, and hope to recoup some of the £25million fee spent to bring him in.

With two years left on his deal, this summer is viewed as the final opportunity to attract a sizeable fee for the 27-year-old’s signature.

Arsenal ready to cash in on Kieran Tierney after Arteta decision

Tierney signed for Arsenal from Celtic in a Scottish-record £25million deal and has since made 124 appearances for the North London club.

However, persistent injury issues have derailed a promising start to his career at the Emirates, missing a total of 76 games since he joined the club in 2019.

The left-back spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad where he made 26 appearances last season, helping the Spanish outfit to a sixth-placed finish.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior represent the club’s current left-back options, with Tierney forced to the bottom of the pecking order.

As revealed by Football Insider, Arsenal are also closing in on a deal to sign Riccardo Calafiori in a deal which would push Tierney even further away from first-team football.

Arteta is desperate to strengthen his team and finally win a Premier League title after twice missing out to Manchester City, with player sales set to be reinvested in the first team.
