'Sped up his recovery' - King hails recent decision amid 'Positive' Tottenham injury boost

Bryan King believes it was wise for Tottenham star Son Heung-min to miss South Korea’s fixtures during the October international break.

The ex-Spurs scout claims Son’s recovery has likely been sped up by the forward remaining behind at Hotspur Way.

According to reliable Spurs insider Paul O Keefe via X (10 October), “positive injury news” has emerged at Tottenham, with the North London side hopeful that Son, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison can take part in first-team training next week.

John Wenham recently speculated that South Korea and Spurs had reached a special agreement which would see Son spend the October international break in North London.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the right decision was made.

“This is a boost for Postecoglou,” King said.

“Spurs have been troubled by injuries to key players this season. I think the main thing is that Son looks as though he is going to recover.

“It was wise for him not to travel with South Korea, as it allowed him to concentrate on his recovery. I don’t care who you are, travelling that much if you have got an injury, isn’t going to help.

“Therefore, him staying behind has probably sped up his recovery by a week or so. I was pleased about that.”

Son Heung-min to return for Tottenham against West Ham?

After Spurs’ 3-2 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium (6 October), the clash with West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 19 October is a must-win.

Therefore, Son’s availability could come as a big boost for Postecoglou.

If the South Korean does return to first-team training next week, he has every chance of featuring against the Hammers.

In other Tottenham news, one player at the club has been compared to Harry Kane as a “fantastic” admission emerges.
