St. Mirren defender Alexander Gogic messaged Elon Musk in reaction to the winning goal against Rangers on Boxing Day.
Gogic posted on X (26 December) in response to Premier Sports’ clip of Caolan Boyd-Munce’s added-time winner at St. Mirren Park, giving the Saints a dramatic 2-1 victory over Philippe Clement’s side.
Boyd-Munce’s first-time strike was likened to a rocket by the Cyprus international, after he arrived to hit Evan Mooney’s lay-off on the edge of the box, finishing a move which began with Dujon Sterling’s error.
Tagging Musk in his post, Gogic said: “One of your rockets is in Paisley.”
Elon Musk message emerges on Rangers
Tagging the owner and most followed user on X in a post celebrating the Gers’ demise certainly won’t hurt as much as Boyd-Munce’s finish hitting the back of the net did, but it certainly prolongs the pain.
Musk being tagged in, and potentially even interacting with, such posts could spread Gogic’s comments – and therefore St. Mirren’s winning goal – well beyond the realms of the average Scottish football fan.
As a result, the worldwide community of Light Blues could be seeing more and more of that 93rd-minute strike hitting the net on their social media feeds, reliving the frustration and anger over and over again.
The Bears themselves, however, will feel they only have themselves to blame; particularly Clement for not seeing the game out and especially Sterling after his late slip proved so costly at St. Mirren Park.
Boyd-Munce’s bolt from the blue leaves Gers 12 points behind Celtic in the table with 2 January’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox looming, and Clement will hope his side can produce a few rockets of their own to close the gap before then.
In other Rangers news, one Gers defender could be on his way out of Ibrox after a European club registered their interest.
