Stan Collymore instantly takes to X as Rangers suffer shock defeat to St Mirren

Stan Collymore has reacted on X as Rangers lost 2-1 to St Mirren on Boxing Day at Paisley.

Gers went into the game as favourites but found themselves chasing it with the hosts leading 1-0 at half-time.

Philippe Clement’s side equalised courtesy of Danilo but were pegged back by a late winner scored by Caolon Boyd-Munce.

Collymore shared a GIF of a man eating popcorn as the club’s official account shared the result.

Recent performances only papered over the cracks for Gers and this match was a reality check as to where they actually are.

It was a shambolic team selection and while players were responsible for individual errors too, this result was totally down to the system.

Clement cannot hide behind excuses like injuries and poor officiating as more often than not, he’s being bailed out by individual brilliance.

This is exactly what did not need to happen ahead of the Old Firm derby at the start of next month and fans will surely have grown sick of the club’s performances.

Whether or not the Belgian survives this, remains to be seen, but it’s evident he’s not the man to take this club forward.

Gers are now 12 points behind their arch rivals and that lead will become 15 if they fail to beat them at Ibrox on 2 January.
