Billy Dodds was amazed that Leon Balogun tried to continue after sustaining an injury as Rangers lost to St Mirren.
Balogun hobbled off the field in Paisley with 19 minutes on the clock during Thursday’s (26 December) shock 2-1 loss.
The centre-back appeared to injure either his calf or Achilles after keeping pace with Toyosi Olusanya and was replaced by Robin Propper.
Speaking live on BBC Radio Scotland [26 December, 18:01pm], Dodds said: “Balogun is trying to give it a go, which is just incredible.
“I’d be amazed if he comes back on, but he is walking a lot better now.”
Rangers lose Leon Balogun to injury
While Philippe Clement will not know the extent of the injury for another day or two, it does not look good on initial viewing.
If the defender has tweaked a muscle, you would expect he will miss around two weeks of action at the very least.
This likely lay-off has come at a bad time for the Gers as John Souttar is also currently on the sidelines.
There is always a risk of losing players when the games come thick and fast, as they very much do around this time of the year.
Rangers conceded a little over 10 minutes after Balogun went off against St Mirren, although Danilo did level up just after the hour mark.
Clement’s men shipped late on, though, as their recent upturn in form came to a crushing halt against St Mirren.
Clement will now simply hope he can get his injured players back as soon as possible.
In other Rangers news, Gabby Agbonlahor has hit back at a “harsh” Gers assessment.
