Summer signing explains 'Easy' Everton transfer decision

Asmir Begovic admits his return to Everton in the summer transfer window was an “easy decision” to make.

The goalkeeper returned to the Toffees on a free transfer (The Athletic, 21 August) after spending a year in the Championship with QPR.

The Bosnian hasn’t yet played a game since re-joining Sean Dyche’s team and will act mainly as back-up to Jordan Pickford this term.

Speaking to Italian outlet Diretta (9 October) Begovic shared why his return to Everton was a no-brainer.

“I definitely had other offers, but when Everton came calling again it was an easy decision to come back,” he said.

“The club is huge and the Everton fans really have the colour blue in their blood, so it’s a pleasure to be here”.

Everton need to carry on their Premier League form

Although Begovic hasn’t had much to do with the Toffees’ first team yet, it’s clear how happy the ‘keeper is to be back at Goodison Park, despite their performances being poor thus far.

However, the Merseyside outfit have just bagged their first Premier League win against Crystal Palace on 28 September after Dwight McNeil’s ‘monstrous’ performance carried them to a 2-1 victory.

Dyche’s men are set to face Ipswich and Fulham in their next Premier League games and will be confident about their chances of taking all three points from both clashes.

Since their promotion, the Tractor Boys have had quite a rough time in the top flight.

They even lost 4-1 to West Ham United on 5 October, meaning there hasn’t been a better time for the Toffees to face them.

Of course, things can change in football and Ipswich may find a way to beat Everton, but one thing is for sure, it’s Everton’s game to lose, especially if Kieran McKenna’s men play as they did against the Hammers.

In other Everton news, Howard Webb has reacted to the Toffees’ penalty controversy in their game v Newcastle.
