Rory Jennings insists appointing David Moyes to replace Sean Dyche would not be a wise move by Everton.

Moyes has been touted as a target to return to Goodison Park should the Toffees part company with Dyche after a poor start to the season.

However, discussing the managerial situation at Everton live on talkSPORT [20 September], Jennings argued Dyche is a better option right now.

After mentioning the Moyes links and being asked if he thinks that’s a wise choice, Jennings replied: “I don’t think that would be the right call.

“It would be the natural pathway and people would conclude Moyes would be the saviour.

“But I think Dyche is a better manager for Everton in these circumstances than David Moyes.”

David Moyes return to Everton an intriguing thought

They say you should never go back, and that is so often the case in the world of football. And yet the thought of Moyes returning will get some excited.

Moyes was a massive success in his first stint on Merseyside, of course, and is currently out of work after somewhat controversially being let go by West Ham.

If Everton are going to replace Dyche, they should naturally be looking to the long term and a manager who can guide the club into this new era at Bramley-Moore Dock.

However, the Toffees quite simply cannot go down this season. Appointing a manager who can keep them afloat is therefore the priority, which Moyes can surely achieve.

That said, Dyche is himself a specialist at doing exactly that. Should Everton lose against Leicester City on Saturday (21 September), though, then the club will have an almighty decision to make.

Whether it is Dyche, Moyes or anyone else out there, all supporters want is for the club to maintain their long-running status as a top-flight club.

In other Everton news, Kevin Thelwell has named two players who helped save the club from a very nervous situation.
