'The big difference': Ian Wright wowed by £90k-a-week Arsenal player's efforts at Villa today

Arsenal have made it two wins out of two in the Premier League, with four goals scored and none conceded.

The Gunners followed up their 2-0 opening-day win over Wolverhampton Wanderers with a 2-0 triumph at Aston Villa.

Arsenal had to wait until after the hour mark to break the deadlock, but a second goal followed shortly after for a routine win.

Mikel Arteta’s charges scored on 67 minutes as Leandro Trossard, who had come on just two minutes earlier, rifled in a first-time finish.

Arsenal then doubled their advantage just 10 minutes later as Thomas Partey fired in at the near post following great work from Bukayo Saka.

Ian Wright hails difference-maker Leandro Trossard

Trossard was the very definition of ‘impact sub’ on Saturday, and Ian Wright was eager to sing his praises at full-time.

“We expected Arsenal to dominate possession,” the Highbury legend said on the Premier League website.

“Arsenal didn’t have too many problems even though they should have conceded. Trossard was the big difference for me.”

How the media rated Trossard’s display

The Evening Standard gave Trossard a 7 out of 10 rating, with Simon Collings going all-out in his praise for the £90,000-a-week ace.

“Off the bench and scored with his very first touch,” he said. “Surely one of Arsenal’s best signings ever?”

Meanwhile, Kaya Kaynak of football.london gave Trossard 8 out of 10 for his efforts on the day.

“Scored with his first touch – a superbly taken finish to a ball that was just behind him,” he said.

“Then played a part in the second with his low cross.

“Won a game that Arsenal looked certain to lose. The definition of a super sub.”

What’s next for Arsenal?

Arsenal are next in action on Saturday 31 August as they host fellow high-flyers Brighton & Hove Albion in the day’s 12:30pm kick-off.
