'The issue for Clement...' - Reliable journalist shares verdict ahead of St Johnstone v Rangers

Rangers can write the season off if they fail to win any of their next three games against St Johnstone, Kilmarnock or Ross County, believes Scott Burns.

The Daily Record journalist, ahead of the clash against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on 1 December, highlighted the disparities between Gers’ domestic record in comparison to their European one.

Currently, Philippe Clement’s side sit in third place with 23 points after 12 games – 11 points behind leaders Celtic.

Burns wrote on 30 November: “It was a good European result. The issue for Clement, though, hasn’t been in Europe but domestically. They have to win their next three Premiership fixtures against St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Ross County. If they don’t they can write off their league campaign.”

Philippe Clement needs to improve domestic form to prove he deserves Rangers job

Clement must urgently improve the club’s domestic performance to justify his position as manager.

The team’s current third-place standing, trailing Celtic by 11 points, underscores the necessity for immediate improvement.

To salvage the season, the Belgian needs to work on his system to defeat teams that are going to sit back against Gers as well.

This involves not only securing wins against upcoming opponents like St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Ross County but also ensuring consistency in performance.

He should focus on bolstering defensive solidity, as seen in Europe, while maintaining an offensive threat.
