'The issue for him is...' - Wenham shares concern for 'Talented' Tottenham loanee

John Wenham has shared an “issue” Tottenham gem Josh Keeley is facing while on loan with EFL League One side Leyton Orient.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has urged the “talented” goalkeeper to keep working hard for his opportunity.

Keeley is yet to feature in the league for Leyton Orient this season. The 21-year-old has made just one appearance for the club, starting their 3-1 defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in the Carabao Cup (17 September).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has provided a bit more insight into the shot-stopper’s lack of playing time this season.

“Keeley’s first Leyton Orient game was away at Brentford, which is quite a challenge,” Wenham said.

“However, I thought he did well. He couldn’t have done anything about the goals he conceded and cemented himself well in the second half.

“As a result, the fans seemed happy. However, the issue for him is that EFL rules mean clubs can only have a certain amount of loan players in a matchday squad.

“Therefore, he just needs to keep working hard and if the opportunity does arise, I’m sure he will establish himself because he is a talented goalkeeper.”

Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Keeley struggling for minutes with Leyton Orient?

If Keeley isn’t going to play much football with Leyton Orient, then Spurs should consider their options.

Fellow Spurs youngster Jamie Donley is also on loan with Leyton Orient, with the 19-year-old urged to be patient after facing troubles of his own.

This is a fantastic club for both players if they’re receiving regular minutes. However, if they’re not, then Spurs would be wise to send them elsewhere.

Keeley and Donley are both talented players. As a result, Ange Postecoglou won’t want to see that talent go to waste.

There are bound to be plenty of other clubs where both players could receive more regular playing time.

In other Tottenham news, a behind-the-scenes figure will need to decide on his long-term future at the club after recent exit speculation.
