'The quality he has': Graham Potter blown away by 'top' Chelsea player against Man United today

Moises Caicedo has been one of a number of mega-money buys at Chelsea in the recent transfer windows and one man who knows him well is Graham Potter.

Potter excelled with Caicedo in his midfield at Brighton and since being hired and fired by Chelsea, has had to watch on as his former star develops.

For Caicedo, who opted for the move to Chelsea over Liverpool, the pressure of the big money spent on him has, at times, looked too much.

However, under Enzo Maresca, Caicedo is starting to shine and against Man United today, it was Caicedo who stole the show and scored a fine goal to earn his team a draw.

And giving a glowing verdict on Caicedo, Potter has given his verdict on the Ecuadorian star.

Graham Potter lauds Moises Caicedo after Chelsea v Manchester United

Speaking about Caicedo for Premier League Productions, former Chelsea boss Potter offered his verdict on Caicedo.

“He’s a really nice person. Humble, wants to learn and improve and fight for the team. As a human being he’s top, really pleased for him,” Potter said.

“I think it’s only natural that there’s pressure. The team is trying to function better than it was, he’s come in at £100m or whatever it was and you expect a lot for that type of money.

“Moises isn’t really that type of player. Most of the time he’s the guy who lets other players play better, gets in good positions, can deal with big spaces, wins the ball back. Now you’re seeing the quality that he has.”

Caicedo outshining Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea

Both Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez cost Chelsea more than £100m and it’s looked for some time that Fernandez would be the one to outdo the former Brighton man.

However, the opposite has happened and we are now seeing Moises Caicedo really step into the fold and show his class alongside Romeo Lavia.

Over the course of the season and as Maresca embeds his ways more and more, you’d expect Caicedo to go on and get better and better.

As for Fernandez, he’s gone from being captain to not being able to get into the team.
