'They have more to offer' - King reacts as Arsenal hijack Tottenham transfer for West Ham gem

Bryan King claims Arsenal are a more attractive proposition than Tottenham after Kyran Thompson chose to sign for the Gunners.

The ex-Spurs scout feels that financial factors might have also influenced the youngster.

As previously reported by The Secret Scout via X (19 July), West Ham gem Thompson looked set to sign for Tottenham. However, The Secret Scout later provided an update via X (24 July), reporting that Arsenal had made a late move for Thompson as they looked to hijack Spurs’ deal.

According to Lilywhite Rose via X (10 October), Thompson ended up turning down Spurs and picking Arsenal in a blow to Ange Postecoglou’s side.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think this is a huge deal, although has suggested that the Gunners have more to offer than their North London adversaries.

“We’re talking about a very young player here,” King said.

“Therefore, I don’t think it is the end of the world for Tottenham. However, something must have happened to convince him to join Arsenal over Spurs.

“I would imagine that money was involved. Perhaps the promise of immediate Under-21 games and chances to train with the first team. At this moment in time, Arsenal are in a far better position to bring in a young player.

“They have more to offer than Spurs right now, especially with everybody raving about Mikel Arteta. There are more pluses at this moment in time than at Tottenham.”

Kyran Thompson turns down Tottenham and signs for Arsenal

This won’t come as an immediate blow to Postecoglou or Spurs.

However, for fans to read that Thompson turned the club down to sign for their fiercest rivals, it will likely have frustrated a few.

Should Thompson go on to become a huge success on the other side of North London, there will certainly be a bitter taste in the mouths of those at Tottenham.
