Richarlison has played just 25 minutes of football for Tottenham this season as he works towards a return from injury.
The 27-year-old has been suffering from a muscle injury since his cameo during the 4-0 win over Everton in August, adding to the single minute he was given in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
Most Spurs fans will agree that Richarlison has failed to live up to expectations after joining from the Toffees in the summer of 2022, especially given his £60million price tag [BBC Sport].
Despite the lack of game time, the supporters are excited for the Brazilian to return to the squad, and that could be a possibility ahead of Spurs versus West Ham on Saturday 19 October.
Speaking ahead of the clash [Official X account], Ange Postecoglou said: “Sonny [Son Heung-min] and Richy [Richarlison] have done some good work and trained with the group, which is a real positive.
“Hopefully, they’re both available for the weekend.”
Richarlison to make Tottenham return v West Ham?
Of course, if Dominic Solanke, Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson are available, neither of the attackers are likely to be risked from the start as Spurs welcome the Hammers this weekend.
However, with 15 goals and eight assists in 68 appearances, Richarlison has shown his ability to be a very dangerous substitute to have waiting in the wings on a matchday.
During the six-goal thriller between Liverpool and Spurs last season, the Brazilian entered the pitch with just 29 minutes remaining and left the pitch with a goal and an assist to his name.
He completed 75 per cent of his passes, with four into the final third, maintained a 100 per cent shot accuracy, and created one big chance [FotMob].
While he has not been as threatening this season, he still completed 100 per cent of his dribbles and won 100 per cent of his ground duels as a second-half substitute against Everton in August [FotMob].
Compared to strikers in Europe’s top-five leagues, Richarlison ranks in the top 99 percentile for non-penalty goals per 90 minutes, the top 91 percentile for touches in the attacking penalty area and the top 99 percentiles for blocks and clearance [FBref].
If Postecoglou is in desperate need of a hero to get a goal back for Spurs, or even put some pressure on from the front to maintain a lead, Richarlison could be a very key figure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.
