'This Is Very Likely' - West Ham to seal mega-money renewal, says boardroom source

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed West Ham are “very likely” to extend their “successful” shirt sponsorship deal with Betway.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs and their boards – claimed the gambling firm have built up “real brand recognition” during their partnership with the Irons.

Gambling shirt sponsors will be outlawed for Premier League clubs for the 2026-27 season.

11 clubs in the English top-flight are currently sponsored by betting firms, with Betway’s deal at West Ham set to expire in 2025.

Betway partnered with West Ham in 2015 and has been the front-of-shirt sponsor since the 2015-16 season.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We are very likely to see an extension with Betway next year, I think.

“It’s been one of the more successful partnerships, they’ve had a lot of recognition out of it.

“With these gambling companies, most are in and out in a season. Betway have been in for a while and they’ve built up some real brand recognition.

“I think they will want to take advantage of this last year.

“If they make it work with activation, they’ve got to sweat the asset for the final year to get the maximum value.”
